Conan explains that she had hung a brick from the railing and concealed it with a towel, luring Nakamura with a phone call. When he was close enough, she pulled a rope attached to the brick, striking him on the forehead and causing him to lose his balance, falling into the corner of the water tank. As evidence, Conan explains that the paint mark on the towel comes from the railing and that the rope must be at Inoue's home. Inoue confesses and reveals that Nakamura had destroyed her crop, which had been grown from her father's last harvest.
